Highway Usage, Maintenance, and Safety Management Charges
When will the Highway Usage, Maintenance, and Safety Management Charges be charged?
- Private vehicles and motorcycles: Annual Highway Usage, Maintenance, and Safety Management Charges is charged in every July. (From July 1 to July 31.)
- Commercial vehicles: The Highway Usage, Maintenance, and Safety Management Charges is paid four times a year for commercial vehicles. Seasonal Highway Usage, Maintenance, and Safety Management Charges are charged in every March, June, September and December with respect to the payments of spring, summer, autumn and winter.
What are the ways to pay for Highway Usage, Maintenance, and Safety Management Charges?
Before the deadline, vehicle owners can pay the payment by several ways as below:
- Take the paper payment notice and pay it at the counter in financial institutions, post offices, convenience stores (7-11, FamilyMart, Hi-Life, and OK Mart) or at any Motor Vehicles Office including their affiliated stations.
- Reprint the notice using the information kiosks (such as 7-11's ibon) at convenience stores (7-11, FamilyMart, Hi-Life, and OK Mart) and pay it at convenience stores directly.
- Pay the payment online: You can also make use of the website service, Supervision Service APP, BeePay, Line Pay Money, Orange Payment, JKOPAY, Shopee and Yuanta Bank APP.
- Make payment via telephone transfer (transfer hotline: 412-1366, then dial your user code + 169#) by following the voice instructions to enter the relevant info.
What if the vehicle owners did not receive the payment notice of Highway Usage, Maintenance, and Safety Management Charges? How to apply for a reissue?
- For the vehicle owners who did not receive the payment notice of Highway Usage, Maintenance, and Safety Management Charges, it is suggested the owners go to any Motor Vehicles Office (Station) in Taiwan to reissue the payment notice. Or, the owners can also apply for a reissue of resending payment notice by phone inquiry.
- Reprint the notice using the information kiosks (such as 7-11's ibon) at convenience stores (7-11, FamilyMart, Hi-Life, and OK Mart) and pay it at convenience stores directly.
What is the consequence if the Highway Usage, Maintenance, and Safety Management Charges is overdue and unpaid?
If vehicle owners pay it after deadline, they will be fined between NT$300 to NT$3,000.
If I have already applied for vehicle suspension, revocation or cancellation of my license plate, should I suppose to continuously pay for Highway Usage, Maintenance, and Safety Management Charges when driving on the road?
For those who have suspended, revoked and canceled license plates shall apply for the drive reversion or a new license plate in order to drive on the road. Otherwise, in addition to the regular fines based on the laws, the Highway Usage, Maintenance, and Safety Management Charges will also be charged from the alteration date of license plate to the violation date if the invalid plate is discovered.
